Our Story

The journey of Hyken® Chair began back in 2018, when our founder John Smith left his job as an office furniture designer. After years of researching body mechanics and engineering chairs for major brands, John realized he could create his own line of ergonomic seating to properly address some of the key issues he saw in standard office chairs.
Armed with his industry expertise and a passion for building better desk chairs, John sketched out plans for the first Hyken® Chair model in his basement workshop. He wanted to make an affordable, comfortable chair with adjustments and features typically found in more expensive brands.
After months of prototyping and testing, John finalized the design for the original Hyken® task chair. He carefully selected high-quality mesh fabric for the flexible back and breathable seat. The back features lumbar support and adjusts to properly align the spine. And customizeable settings allow you to dial in the right level of recline and height for your body.
When John brought his creation to market in 2019, the response from customers was tremendous. The Hyken® Chair quickly earned recognition for bringing premium ergonomic design to cost-conscious office workers and students.
